Gema Sandoval and Danza Floricanto/USA, join forces with Chicano music's leading proponent Quetzal Flores and his Grammy Award winning band, Quetzal, to create an evening of both traditional and contemporary dance, music and song inspired by the music from Veracruz, Mexico.
This artistic journey spans from the time of the large Mexican folk dance companies, to the Mexican folk dance craze now an integral part of every Mexican-American neighborhood, to contemporary times which highlight the resurgence of the "son Jarocho," reaffirming its Spanish as well as its indigenous and African roots, the seminal influence of the "Chicano Sound."
